Christmas at dyker heights

Christmas at Dyker Heights

Today marks two years since I flew to NYC for the first time. There was snow and Christmas lights and I felt like I was in Home Alone 2, visiting the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Centre. But when we visited Dyker Heights, that’s when I really felt like I had walked onto a movie set. I was reminded of this feeling this Christmas when I watched the series Dash & Lily on Netflix. If you haven’t seen it yet – it follows the story of a couple of teenagers who get to know each other through writing to each other through a notebook the find in a book shop. They set challenges for each other which takes them all over NYC and one day it takes Dash to Dyker Heights – a neighbourhood covered in Christmas lights. I just loved it – it made me feel warm and fuzzy inside and also made me want to return to NYC at Christmas time, however during this time when a global pandemic means we have to stay home, I hope you will indulge me as I make a photo diary of my time visiting the Christmas lights of DH in Brooklyn, NYC, in the hope that we will one day see them in person again. So I give you, Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, NYC circa 2018…
