The newest Andy Warhol exhibition started its’ life in Barcelona’s Caixa Forum and I was lucky enough to see it with a good friend of mine!
Barcelona’s Caixa Forum is an art gallery which is sponsored by the bank ‘la caixa’, this means that if you are a la caixa customer you can enter many of the exhibitions for free! Otherwise, this one is a bargain at 4euros.
The Caixa Forum is a beautiful building located next to the Magic Fountains and Plaza Espanya. As an old factory building it still retains some of its’ charm even though the entrance is new and modern.
Today, the 1st of February marks the date of the exhibition moving to Madrid’s Caixa Forum where it will be until the 6th of May 2018. If I were you I’d get planning a trip to Madrid! If I can’t convince you, perhaps a bit of artwork by the man himself can…
The genius that is Andy Warhol.
He began his career with a keen interest in beauty and fashion, specifically hats and shoes. I personally really enjoyed looking through his early work.
My absolute favourite part of the exhibition is probably his most famous POP ART which began in the 1960s.
Warhol worked with celebrities, royalty and musicians alike.
Towards the end of his career and his life, Warhol started looking towards his own mortality and this was reflected in his artwork.
The collection hosts some of his most famous pieces, including the Campbells’ Soup.
The exhibition also includes the opportunity for you to create your own pop art to take home with you.
Can’t wait to see it for yourself?
