I must confess… I am a bit of a foodie and there aren’t many brunch or cake places in Barcelona I haven’t tried! So here is a list of my faves and where you can find them! Enjoy! Bon profit! Buen provecho!
Barceloneta
The big king of brunches, also known as Brunch by the Sea opened its’ doors to the beach crew last year down in Barceloneta but they actually have them all over the city. Otherwise known as Brunch and Cake. They were always cool, quirky and a bit unique but recent changes have seen it turn into a hipsters paradise! I’d be surprised these days if you got served your food on a regular plate as I’ve seen anything from a shovel to a golden platter. For all you guacamole fiends you must tryt the nachos just so you can inject yourself with the syringe full of Guac!
Passeig de Joan de Borbó, 5
El Born
A couple of places for you here, the first is Alsur Cafe which if you are lucky enough to get a spot on the outdoor terazza makes for a beaut afternoon in the Barcelona sun! The place is also full of cute quotes on the wall inside which i love!
Plaça de Sant Cugat, 1
The second is a nice spot where let it be said also changes it’s menu for the evening which I hear is also scrummy! Picnic is a stones throw from Parc Ciutadella so if you fancy a big munch before digesting in the park head here!
Carrer del Comerç, 1
El Raval
This little beaut I discovered when a friend was working there as a chef – great excuse for a visit! It’s light and bright and the waiter will surely put a smile on your face with his enthusiasm! I bring you… Caravelle.
Carrer del Pintor Fortuny, 31
Sant Antoni
This next spot I discovered with my fellow blogger friend and American beauty Emily! Shoutout to This is the milk <3
The Juice House is nice if you fancy brunch with a difference! The patatas bravas especially was not your typical ol’ one. Also this street is amazing – full of cafes and bars – defos check it out!
Carrer del Parlament, 12
Eixample
Moving on to my absolute faves here!! Petit Pot is a lovely place with nice service and amazing food! I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes and the blueberry pancakes!! Talk about YUM!! They will also give you a cutee little jug with which to pour your maple syrup – just look at how happy it made me!
Plaça d’Urquinaona, 4
If you can get a table (no reservations possible) at Granja petitbo you will be a happy chappy because the food is delicious as are the healthy smoothies! Who knew carrot could taste soo good? And as always, best shared with great company!
Passeig de Sant Joan, 82
Now onto the holy grail of carrot cakes… I give you… Pudding! Now if you have kids, or if you simply are a big kid at heart this is 1 million % for you! One is done up in an Alice in Wonderland theme and the other Harry Potter!!
NEED.I.SAY.MORE?! I shall simply let the photos speak for themselves…
p.s. I also ADORE the china they use! Pink and flowery and CUTE! Resist the temptation to slip them into your bag on the way out…
Carrer de Pau Claris, 90
Harry Potter Pudding
The decor in this place alone will force you to stop and take one million pictures because it’s so damn instagrammable! If your friend is very cheeky she will also catch you in the act…
Avinguda Diagonal, 515
Sagrada Familia
This is one for all you vegans out there! La Trocadero is a new joint in town and offers cakes, snacks and burgers – all vegan! The place has a nice, quirky design and the eyes everywhere will put a smile on your face for sure! Check out the photos if you don’t believe me…
Carrer de la Marina, 269
Gracia
Now if you can still move after all that brunching, I take you up to Gracia. The boho capital of Barcelona, heaving with brunch cafes, boutiques and plazas upon plazas. This adorable neighborhood is not to be missed! One of my faves is Mama’s Cafe, partly because it has thee nicest terrace hidden at the back of the cafe, partly because the chocolate cake makes you want to re-enact a scene from Matilda – I’m sure you know the one! And if not – tea for two is always nice…
Mama’s Cafe, Carrer de Torrijos, 26
NEW!!! Hot off the press!!
My love for brunching has not stopped so I thought it was only fair that I share my more recent finds with you!
Raval
Tropico is a delight for both the eyes and the taste buds! It has a wonderful style, and whether you choose to sit in the front entrance surrounded by tropical prints and wonderful wicker chairs or through the back of the cafe where you are surrounded by exposed brickwork and the most hipster map I’ve ever seen – you will be happy!
I still haven’t tried everything on the menu but I am doing my best to work my way through it! I do love the scrambled eggs in a muffin style thing. It is more filling than it looks so you could even share it or take home a doggy bag like we did!
The smoothie menu is amazing! So varied and absolutely delicious! My absolute favourite is the dragon fruit one! It looks and tastes like perfection every time!
Carrer Marquès de Barberà 24
Eixample
Hammock Juice Station is the place to be if you want to spend your morning hanging around with the healthiest of food.
Firstly, the hammocks are amaaazinggg!! I do have a bit of background about how they are fitted too courtesy of the lovely lady who works there. (My boyfriend was having a bit of a panic, as he thought he was going to be too heavy for the hammock and was having visions of it crashing down as soon as he sat on it – so – he made me swap. The waitress on seeing this immediately came over & asked if that is what we were doing… We couldn’t lie so we confessed and she continued to reassure us that the hammocks have been tested with the weight of 8 men and hundreds of kgs. In addition to this they are attached to a pole which runs through the ceiling and behind the walls. So rest assured – you can swing away with peace of mind!)
The food is also so lovely & very healthy. Their specialty is acai bowls and they have a whole manner of juices for you to try! We had this lovely sharing platter and it was soo yummy! The service was so friendly and I really recommend it!

Carrer de Mallorca, 308
Sant Antoni
La Desayuneria is located in the up and coming area of Sant Antoni and with the imminent opening of the Sant Antoni Mercat across the road, it won’t stay off the radar for long.
Brunch with a difference. There are a mixture of things of the brunch menu, ranging from sandwiches to build your own grilled cheeses to what can be described as the closest thing to a ‘brunch friendly fry up’ for all you expats! They also have one big enough for two people and after seeing one for 1 person I can only imagine how much food there is for 2!
The decor is also cute as a button! Don’t miss it!
Make sure you get yourself down at brunch o’clock because they have a different menu for the evenings!
Carrer del Comte Borrell, 75
I hope you fellow brunchers have found this blog post as interesting reading it as I did researching it!
If you have any new and exciting recommendations for me please let me know!
